Uxmal

It is an ancient Mayan city located south of Mérida in the state of Yucatán, in the municipality of Santa Elena. Like Chichén Itzá and Tikal, Uxmal is considered one of the most important archaeological sites of this culture.
Location:
The Uxmal site is located in the southwest of the state of Yucatán, in the Santa Elena Valley. It is delimited to the north by the Sierrita de Ticul; to the south it borders a higher mountain range, whose name in Mayan is Uitz. It is located in the Puuc area. 1 hour and 15 minutes away from the city of Mérida (88.8km)

Chichen Itza

The pre-Hispanic city of Chichén Itzá was the most outstanding capital of the Mayan area, at the end of the Classic period and the beginning of the Postclassic. Upon the arrival of the Spaniards, it was constituted as the most revered center of worship and pilgrimage in the Yucatan Peninsula. Today it is a Sacred Center for the Mayans.

It is located 115 kilometers from the city of Mérida (approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes away), Yucatán, taking highway No. 180 towards the town of Piste, from which the archaeological site is 2 kilometers away.

Dzibilchaltún

Dzibilchaltún is a settlement that has a long occupational sequence from the Late Preclassic to the Late Postclassic, for this reason it became one of the largest settlements on the north coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. The distribution of the architectural spaces is concentric and covered an area of 16 km².
Location:
Departing from the city of Mérida, heading towards the north coast, advance 8 kilometers along the Mérida-Puerto Progreso highway (No. 261), to immediately take the deviation that leads to the towns of hablekal and Conkal, first touching the town from Dzibilchaltún at the end of which is the deviation that leads to the archaeological zone. 35 minutes away from the city of Mérida (21.5 km)

Celestún

Eco-touristic paradise in the state of Yucatan. Its exceptional landscape is part of the world heritage of the special biosphere reserve of the same name.
Among its natural attractions are, to the east, the Baldiosera spring; There is also the Cambay spring, which is a freshwater spring, and finally there is Tambor, where the main attraction is the pink or Caribbean flamingo, the only known population in North America and that has the Celestún Ria as a feeding and resting point. ; They can be observed in their natural ecosystem aboard boats guided by locals. The best season to see flamingos is from December to March, when the tide of the estuary is low. It is suggested to arrive early to see the greatest number of flamingos. Since after noon they spread out throughout the mangrove.

Izamal

Located 45 minutes from Merida, Izamal is truly a colonial gem. Almost all the buildings are painted yellow, making the entire town look like a movie set. The cobbled streets and colonialstyle lamps complete this feeling.
Clean, quiet, safe, and quaint, this is a great town to walk around. There are Mayan pyramids, colonial buildings, parks and plazas, horse-drawn carriages and lots of people to see.

Mucuyché

This former henequen hacienda located in Mucuyché (“turtledove tree”), to the south of the state, shows its visitors the splendor of its partially restored buildings, but the most impressive are the cenotes it hosts: the so-called Cenote Carlota, with a canal surrounded by vegetation; and the Cenote Azul, a cavern-type with stalactites still forming, two wonders that you can visit in Yucatan.
Location:
Take the road to Uxmal, travel approximately 57 kilometers, pass the Hacienda San Pedro Ochil and the next town is Abalá, continue the indications for Mucuyché until you reach the hacienda. An imposing stone arch will welcome you. 1 hour and 10 minutes away from the city of Mérida (59km).
